We would like to wish you a very Happy Christmas and thank all IPSA members who came out to support our recent Carol signing fund-raising event for the Dublin Simon Community. Despite the cold weather, the singing kept everyone warm on O’Connell Street and we wer able to raise €300 towards helping the homeless this winter – figure that will be supported by further donations from Computershare and ShareGift.
Julian Roberts, Chief Executive of ShareGift in the UK, was unable to join us this year but sent us this message about our efforts on the night and our goal to establish a share gift arrangement in Ireland, where we will seek people to donate unused small shareholdings that can be used to generate funds to give to charities throughout the country.
Julian said: “The Simon Community undertakes vital work and we are delighted that funds raised from this event will help tackle homelessness in Ireland.
“We are also very happy to be collaborating on this initiative alongside IPSA and Computershare, which will release much needed financial support to the Irish charitable sector. These monies arise from small shareholdings and cash residuals which would otherwise be wasted, and which often cost more to process than they are worth.”
